
Having read 46,000 applications, an array has been seen by us of summer experiences that students have embarked on. We’ve look over every thing from summer time programs at prestigious universities, to gaining work experience at their local mall, to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (literally). We admire students that pursue their interests.
Right Here is a short listing of summer time activities you could pursue:
- Volunteer at a hospital, park, library, aquarium or museum
- Become a Camp Counselor at a summer camp
- Train to become lifeguard at your local pool, lake, or beach
- Baby-sit your neighbor’s kid
- Simply Take a college-visit road trip
- Serve up fro-yo at your local frozen yogurt store (get some good work experience)
- Sign up for the mission or solution trip in america or abroad
- Tutor younger students in your chosen subject
- Take a class at your community that is local college university
Anything you find yourself achieving this summer, be sure to pick a summer time task according to what you love doing and perhaps not based on how you think it shall look on your college applications.
Transfer Decisions
In about a week we will likely be transfer that is contacting regarding their application to USC. A handful of students have heard of their admission at this point. However, the majority of transfer applicants will get a choice or a demand for lots more home elevators or by June 1st.

Generally, the extra information we request will be your spring transcript with your final grades for the academic year. This request isn’t an indication that the student is more likely to be admitted or not; rather it offers us having a more complete academic history. You will have two weeks to submit your commitment deposit if you are admitted to the fall term. During that two week period you should receive an aid that is financial (if you applied). Professional Development
Things have started initially to calm down round the workplace now that all freshman decisions are made. We’re still taking care of reviewing transfer files, but our staff recently took a quick trip to Reno, NV to attend a conference that is professional.
While here, we attended sessions about various admission topics and best techniques, such as just how to offer an effective senior high school see, what types of technology might be useful in the recruitment process, and how to read university essays while knowing of our own personal biases (positive or negative). The seminar also offered us a chance in order to connect with our colleagues from various components of the national country, including many of your high school counselors. It in fact was a great opportunity to share our own knowledge and expertise and learn from each other. Even the most admission that is seasoned on our staff discovered something brand new at the seminar!
Summer is our chance to sleep, review what we’ve learned in the last 12 months, and prepare for the year that is coming. We hope you can perform the same throughout your summer break!
Summer in the City
It is officially summer in Southern California! Campus is really a bit quieter, the temperatures are becoming warmer, and most importantly, the speed in our office has slowed down. We are also taking advantage of this downtime to explore Los Angeles and all our town has to provide our pupils.
Like in past summers, we’re utilising the Summer Restaurant Series, prepared by some of our own peers, to explore the local cuisine. Just last month, we ventured to 23rd St. Café in USC’s backyard. shmoop.pro This restaurant that is unique United states, Indian, and Mexican food, as well as some fusion dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala quesadilla was quite popular in our team! For the second food outing, our restaurant series took us to Umamicatessen. According to the web site, this location is ‘inspired by worldwide street bazaars plus the classic American delicatessen’ while offering 5 different kitchen areas serving up diverse forms of food within a hall that is dining inside the Orpheum Theatre. A few of our dishes that are favorite this outing were the truffle fries, made-to-order donuts, and differing types of Umami’s specialty: burgers.
Besides eating our way through some of Los Angeles’s notable restaurants, we are going to spend time during July and August attending events that are cultural checking out historic spots around the town. Some activities we’ll experience include a guided tour of the Disney Concert Hall and Music Center, enjoying the Downtown LA Art Walk, and hopping on the newly opened Expo line to simply take the train to the Culver City Farmers Market.
